What we use, why we use it and the choices you have.
Who looks after your information?
Dasher Consulting Ltd is the controller of personal information used to run Fablepip.
Fablepip is a trading name of Dasher Consulting Ltd, registered in England and Wales, company number 14222363.
Registered office and correspondence: 86–90 Paul Street, London, EC2A 4NE, United Kingdom. VAT number: GB423153041.
Email: hello@fablepip.com. This is a correspondence address, not a shop or a returns depot. Please contact us before posting an item.
This notice covers fablepip.com and enquiries sent to us. Amazon purchases take place on Amazon under Amazon’s privacy notice. We receive publishing and measurement reports, not Amazon customers’ card details or individual delivery addresses through this site.
Information we use and our reasons
- Website delivery and security: our host Vercel processes technical request information such as IP address, requested page, time, browser/device information and error or security signals. Our lawful basis is our legitimate interest in providing a reliable, secure website and preventing misuse.
- Enquiries and support: if you email us, we receive your address, any name you give, message and attachments. We use these to answer you and manage the issue. This is our legitimate interest in assisting people and running the business; where you ask us to take steps towards a purchase, or contact us about a direct contract, processing needed for those steps or that contract is the relevant basis. Legal obligations may require us to retain relevant records.
- Optional measurement: with your consent, Google Analytics measures public page visits, selected book views, sample browsing and Amazon-button clicks. Consent also permits our Amazon Attribution links, which help measure activity on Amazon after a visit from Fablepip. You can browse and use ordinary Amazon links without accepting.
These details come from your browser, your correspondence and reports from the providers described here. You do not have to email us or accept analytics to browse. If you ask for help, we need enough information to answer. We do not sell personal information or use it for automated decisions with legal or similarly significant effects.
Children and name previews
The website is intended for adults choosing activities for children. We do not offer children’s accounts or request children’s photographs, birthdays or sensitive information. A first name or nickname typed into the cover preview stays in your browser tab; it is not submitted to us or sent in analytics. Please contact us as an adult and avoid including unnecessary information about children.
Cookies, local storage and your choices
Optional Google Analytics is blocked until you choose Accept analytics. It runs only on the home page, library and the four approved live book pages. It does not run on this privacy page, support pages or name/order forms. We send only approved page paths, book identifiers, sample numbers and interaction types. We do not send names, ages, email addresses, form values, query strings or full referring URLs.
Google receives technical browser/device and connection information, including an IP address when processing a request. Advertising personalisation, Google signals and enhanced automatic measurement are disabled. See how Google uses information from partner sites.
- Analytics cookies: _ga and _ga_* identify browser activity for reporting. We configure them to expire after 90 days without extending expiry on each visit.
- Your preference: fablepip-analytics-choice-v1 is stored in your browser’s local storage for up to 180 days to remember acceptance or rejection. It is not an advertising identifier.
- Amazon Attribution: after acceptance, Amazon links include campaign measurement parameters. Without acceptance, we use ordinary product links. Amazon’s own cookies and processing on its site are governed by its notice and your choices there.
Use Analytics choices at the bottom of any page to accept, reject or withdraw. Rejection removes our Analytics cookies and restores ordinary Amazon links. Withdrawal stops future measurement; it does not undo processing already performed lawfully. Your choice applies to this browser; other browsers or cleared storage may need a new choice.
Who helps us operate the service?
Vercel hosts the website; Microsoft 365 handles our email; Google provides optional Analytics; Amazon provides the separately chosen shopping destination and Attribution reporting. Authorised staff and, when needed, professional advisers or public authorities may receive information relevant to their role. Providers may also have their own responsibilities under their privacy notices.
Some providers process information outside the UK, including in the United States. Their applicable data-processing terms provide for recognised adequacy arrangements or contractual safeguards, such as standard contractual clauses with the UK addendum, where required. You can contact us for information about the safeguards relevant to your data. Provider information: Vercel data-processing terms, Microsoft privacy, and Google data-processing terms.
We use HTTPS, restricted staff access and protected business accounts. Please do not send passwords, payment-card numbers or private download links by email.
How long we keep information
We keep correspondence for as long as needed to resolve the enquiry and any follow-up, and longer only where needed for legal, tax, dispute or record-keeping obligations. Relevant factors are the type of issue, whether an ongoing relationship exists and any applicable claim or statutory record period. Hosting/security records follow the provider’s operational retention and any incident investigation needs; we do not keep a separate customer-level browsing history.
Google Analytics event and user data retention is set to two months, with reset on new activity off; aggregated reports can remain longer. The browser cookie and preference periods are described above. Amazon retains its own records under its notice. Anonymised aggregate reports may be kept to compare book interest over time.
Your rights
Depending on the circumstances, you can ask for access, correction, deletion, restriction or a portable copy of your personal information. You have the right to object to processing based on legitimate interests. You can withdraw consent at any time. These rights have legal conditions and exceptions, including where records must be retained.
Email hello@fablepip.com with “Privacy request” and what you need. We may need proportionate information to verify identity. We normally respond within one month; if a lawful extension is needed, we will explain it. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office.
Future direct orders
Direct checkout is not open yet. When introduced, it will need adult contact and billing/tax information, order/payment status and delivery/access records. Stripe will handle payment details on its hosted checkout; we will not receive full card numbers. We will update this notice with the final delivery, storage and retention details before collecting direct customer orders. Personalised products will need a separate explanation of any additional data required.
